ReasonLogicFaithTruth by Andy G. …
(Show us the evidence.  Reasonable and respectful discussions please.)

We want the truth.  This post is about exploring some of the elements and interfaces of Reason, Logic, Faith, Science, and Philosophy.  The Discussion Points (DP) below represent thoughts, ideas, or thesis statements that require discussion and answers.  I realize that some of these can be provocative or controversial, but I post them without apology since these are real topics that should require real thought, discussion, and evidence to either refute or confirm.  I will (most likely) update this post from time to time, adding to it or modifying it as I "figure something out" or as new revelation comes to mind.  I would love to hear (read) your comments and thoughts on this, and especially if you have something to share that can help clarify or answer something here. Thanks for reading.  -andy g.

Discussion Point #1:
Belief in evolution and atheism seem to go hand in hand. In my opinion, there are so many falacies of logic with both and they ignore the evidence and scientific facts all around us.  For example, how does the evolutionist explain the following?:
  • Dreams
  • Consciousness
  • Morals - how do we know what is right and wrong?
  • Clothes - if we evolved, why do we wear clothes? (other than to stay warm perhaps).  Notwithstanding the "shelter" and warmth that clothes provide for us, why would an evolved species decided that we needed to wear clothes for the purpose of modesty or to cover up sin?
  • How can rational thought be something that evolved from nothing?
Discussion Point #2:
I believe that the most harmful lies ever perpetuated on human kind include athiesm, false religions, and the movement that people can decide their gender (gender confusion). They ignore the obvious. Science, archaeology, observation, evidence, the scientific method, and documented history are all things that lead to the truth... how do these things support atheism, false religions, and gender confusion?

Discussion Point #3:
I have observed that many athiests are also anti-christian and hateful towards Christians and religious people. If I can be a follower of Jesus Christ and accept the athiest without hating them, why cannot they do the same?  Just because I am a Christian does not mean that I hate the athiest, the homosexual, the muslim, the pagan, or the non-christian. On the contrary, I want to engage in respectful, helpful, healthy dialogue with them so that we can better understand each other, even if we agree to disagree.  I hope they can do the same.

Discussion Point #4:
4/6/2017  I wrote this in response to posts on this day at  https://www.facebook.com/ojotaylor
(by the way, I have a lot of respect for Ojo... I love his music, his honesty, and am intrigued by his life journey into faith and out of it.  You can read more about him at his blog, here... https://ojotaylor.wordpress.com/  )

If there is actually an omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent god then nothing we say, read, write, do, believe, think, or feel is going to change who God is. We can perhaps change who we think God is or is not, or whether or not we believe God exists at all... but no matter if we believe in God or not, no matter if we believe in heaven or hell, no matter if we believe in sin and judgment, no matter if we believe in forgiveness, redemption, and salvation... God is... and that isn't going to change.  We are delusional if we believe we have the power to change the truth of who God is (assuming for the sake of this argument that God exists).

If God exists, then all of this narrative, conjecture, and opinion is just fluff.  What I want is the truth... So far I have found no religion nor atheist who is infallible... so I keep searching for the truth.  andy g.

Discussion Point #5:
There is a common misperception that science has already proven the origin of life and evolution.  But the more I dig into literature, articles, and books about it I actually find that even the scientists that write them do not actually have proof.  Rather, the theories, thesis statements, and discussions are presented oftentimes as hypothetical stories rather than hard evidence.  Even the scientists themselves don't have the evidence. They are searching for the truth but haven't found it yet.  Consider this statement from the article "Life Springs" by M.J. Van Kranendonk w/ Deamer and Djokic, Scientific American, Fall 2018, pp. 4-8.: "Both the deep-sea vent and the land-based hot spring pools models have a long way to go before either can be deemed correct. The origin of life is like a jigsaw puzzle with many different pieces, and we do not know enough yet to put each one in the proper position."  One statement from the "Life Springs" article that I particularly like, however, is this one in which the authors list out three experiments that need to be done.  Students, this is a list of three potential thesis projects to be worked on: "We need to construct more sophisticated experiments of prebiotic chemistry in a series of warm little pools, studying how complex organic molecules form and how they interact and combine when encapsulated within membranes."  (-atg- 8/18/2018)
